Nature-Inspired Backyard Retreat
When the world slowed down during COVID, one family chose to create the feeling of a Northwoods cabin in their own backyard. Rather than investing in a property up north, they envisioned a peaceful, wooded retreat at home, where they could relax, gather, and stay connected to nature.
Working within the existing trees and a meandering stream, our design team created a landscape that feels both effortless and intentional. Every plant and pathway was chosen to complement the natural environment, while offering color, texture, and beauty through all four seasons.
Over time, the landscape has continued to grow, and so has its story. Each year, new plantings and trees have deepened the sense of seclusion and serenity, turning this family’s home into their favorite place to escape.
